The Manly West Public School Before & After School Care centre was opened in 1994 by a group of parents looking for an alternative to existing after school care options. The centre opened with an attendance of eight children and has grown considerably over the last 30 years. The P&C is consistently working with the school on ways to increase capacity due to popular demand and the Manly West Before & After School program (often referred to as ‘BASC’) now caters for over 230 children each session.
Our aim for the Manly West Before & After School Care is to provide a safe, friendly, stimulating and caring environment where all children are valued and supported.
Children are encouraged to engage in a range of play and leisure experiences that allow them to feel happy, safe and relaxed, to interact with friends, practice social skills, solve problems, and to try new activities and learn life skills.

Enrolments
All Manly West families are eligible to enrol at BASC. Please be aware that we have waiting lists for both before school and after school sessions.
We recommend you enrol as soon as possible if you require care. You are able to enrol and be placed on the waiting list at any time, even if your child is not yet of school age.

Manly West BASC is an Approved Child Care Service
Being an Approved Service means we meet the Australian Government’s standards for quality and safety under the National Quality Framework (NQF).
This includes key areas such as staff-to-child ratios, health and safety practices, and the quality of our learning environment. Approved services are also assessed and rated by regulatory authorities every few years to ensure we continue to meet these standards.
Families attending our service may be eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) to help with the cost of care- for more information, please contact Centrelink
Before School Care
Children arrive from 7:00am and are assisted with preparing their own breakfast if required (breakfast is not provided). The children enjoy varied activities until 9:00am, when they are escorted into the school playground as teachers come on morning playground supervising duty as of 8:50am.
After School Care
Children arrive from class after the 3:20pm bell. Roll call is taken and a variety of nutritious snacks are provided by our staff. Educators run a varied program of activities covering areas such as art, craft, indoor/outdoor games, sports, cooking, technology and drama. Incursions from external providers are often used to extend the program even more.

It is advised that parents read the policies as you agree to abide by them upon enrolment.
